Q. What does "PENDING 501(c)(3)" mean?

A. To put it as simple as possible: 501(c)(3) is a section of the IRS Code that describes a nonprofit organization who meets the requirements of a nonprofit that should be tax-exempt from the IRS. The IRS accepts 1023 IRS forms for nonprofits and they use that form as a guidline in determining if the nonprofit deserves a tax-exempt status (reffered to as a 501(c)(3). Once a nonprofit is granted its tax-exempt status, all donations given to the nonprofit will be tax deductible for those who have made the donation. These forms take months to approve, and while they are in the approval process, the nonprofit who applied is reffered to as a "501(c)(3)-Pending Nonprofit". We are currently a 501(c)(3)-Pending Nonprofit. Meanwhile, we will be collecting community pledges for our projects, and will collect the pledges once we have our tax-exempt status. Those pledges will then be tax deductable to those who have contributed.

Q. How do I pledge a donation to one of W.A.V.E.'s community projects?

A. When you pledge a donation to W.A.V.E., YOU ARE NOT SIGNING A CONTRACT. Instead, you are, in essence, making a "Promise" that you will donate to W.A.V.E. the said ammount that you have pledged on the pledge form. Once we have received enough to fund the project that you have pledged to, we will collect all the pledges. At that point in time you can then decide to, or not to, follow through with your pledge and donate your pledged ammount.
